About Katie

Katie has extensive experience of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and post-operative rehabilitation. She graduated from university in Birmingham in 2003 with an honours degree in Sports Science and a PGCE in Physical Education 2004. She continued her studies at the University of Ulster where she attained an MSc in Pre-registration Physiotherapy in 2006. She has assimilated 12 years of experience in both the private and sports sectors.  Katie is currently completing an MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine at UUJ to further her knowledge.

 

Katie has worked with elite athletes from Liverpool FC Academy, Ulster Rugby Academy and the Irish Football Association U21 and Senior Women’s squads. Katie is responsible for pitch side training management, as well as clinical support. Her clinical interests predominantly lie within non-operative management of musculoskeletal conditions and sport injuries, specifically back injury, knee rehabilitation and return to play.  She has extensive post graduate training, including acupuncture, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, pilates, kinesio taping, pitch side trauma management and she is also a Sarah Key accredited practitioner. Katie is also Access NI cleared, has worked on government contracts and with all major private insurance companies for several years.

 

Outside of work, Katie has represented Ireland at Senior International Tetrathlon and her province at All-Ireland Swimming championships. She was also selected to represent Ireland within the European Pony Club.  She is married with two children and enjoys spending any spare time with her family, friends and walking her two dogs!
